STAGING vs DECORATING

A home, office, or a business space is staged for different reasons. A doctors office is staged simply for patients to feel comfortable in a waiting room. There are usually magazines to read while one awaits their turn to see the doctor. The doctor's office usually have a separate area for children. This are usually has books, games, legos for children to stay occupied.

A home can be staged when one is selling their home. This involves several steps to make the home welcoming for a potential buyer. Here some of the steps one can do:

1. Remove clutter. One can use cardboard boxes and organize them with labels. Such as, Books, jewellery,towels,bed sheets etc. This is also helps one get rid of things one does not need or use. Clothes and Utensils can be sent to Salvation Army or to a Church, or to Habitat for Humanity.

2. Paint the important rooms with neutral colors. It gives a fresh look and feel to a home.

3. Remove personal items. Such as photographs, and jewellery.

4. Remove if one has a collection of guns or knives.

5. Repair the electric outlets. Make sure there are no wires exposed.

6. Check lighting in all rooms.

7. Check the floors. Replace cracked tiles if any.

DECORATING: One decorates ones home according to one's personal taste and style.

One may love Country Style decor another may want their home to look modern.

One can stage one's home or space without having to sell. However, if one is selling a home it is important to make it presentable for selling.
